Potomac Stewards Volunteer Program
We're all in this together.
Our volunteers help remind us of the impact we can have when we come together as a community to make a difference! Last year alone, more than 630 volunteers joined us to remove more than 10,000 pounds of trash from the Potomac's shores. Now that's progress!
Dedicating your time to improve the Potomac's lands and waters is a powerful and inspiring way to fight for clean water. So bring a group of your friends, family, co-workers or neighbors and enjoy a wonderful day of service outdoors along the Potomac River!

Potomac Stewards: Monthly Service Program
In partnership with the National Park Service, Potomac Conservancy's Potomac Stewards program hosts monthly cleanups along the river. Most frequently, you can find us at Fletcher's Cove or Theodore Roosevelt Island in Washington, DC, and Jones Point Park in Alexandria, VA. Volunteers join us for a morning of service along the Potomac where they help clean up trash, remove invasive plants. and restore recreational and water access trails.
Are you a part of a group of 5 or more who are interested in participating in a Potomac Stewards event? Contact Weyessa (ወዬሳ) McAlister at McAlister@potomac.org or 301.608.1188 x206 and view our Upcoming Events >
National Days of Service
When you volunteer your time and service, you become part of a clean water movement that is working hard to protect our local lands and waters. Potomac Conservancy celebrates this commitment by hosting four annual days of service that promote large-scale restoration efforts to enhance the health of our lands and waters:
MLK Jr. Day of Service (January)
Alice Ferguson Foundation's Potomac Watershed Cleanup Day (April)
National Trails Day (June)
National Public Lands Day (September)
If you want to learn more about how you can participate in a national day of service, please contact Weyessa (ወዬሳ) McAlister at McAlister@potomac.org or 301.608.1188 x206 or find event details posted on our calendar of Upcoming Events >
